Welcome to the Friends of the Aigantighe Art Gallery website.
The Friends support the Aigantighe Art Gallery Director & staff. The Friends is a voluntary organisation dedicated to encouraging interest in the visual arts. The incorporated society was founded in 1976. Our members help support the gallery in the interest of maintaining the excellence of this public gallery. Our members participate in gallery-based programmes: exhibition previews, and they extend the work of the gallery through organisational efforts and contributions. Over the years the Friends have provided funds for the purchase of artworks, including many New Zealand paintings and sculptures. Those works form a valued part of the permanent collection.
